Sheriff: Impaired hit-and-run suspect found lying in snowbank next to car
TOWN OF BURKE, Wis. — A Sun Prairie man is facing a fourth drunken driving charge after police said he struck a parked car and drove away Thursday night.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said 61-year-old Paul B. Dupuis was driving on Highway 19 at Portage Road in the town of Burke at 7 p.m. when he struck the unoccupied vehicle.
According to the report, deputies found him on Broadway Drive in Sun Prairie lying in a snowbank next to his damaged car.
Dupuis was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated and cited for inattentive driving and hit and run.
The sheriff’s office said deputies made three additional drunken driving arrests during Friday’s early morning hours; two first-offense and one third-offense charges.
Dane County sheriff’s deputies and Madison police plan to conduct an operation to crack down on drunken driving, funded by a grant, on Friday night. Four more similar operations are scheduled throughout the month.
