Sheriff: Driver crashes car after trying to elude deputies

23-year-oldd Madisonian suspected of 22nd operating a vehicle after revocation

A driver was taken to the hospital after attempting to elude a Dane County deputy early Monday morning in the town of Blooming Grove, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 3 a.m. Monday on North Stoughton Road at Milwaukee Street in the town of Blooming Grove.

Deputies said the vehicle did not stop and the deputy followed. The pursuit reached speeds of approximately 100 mph for a short time, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies said after a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed at E. Washington Avenue and Hayes Road in Madison.

The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and taken to the hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Deputies indicate he was the only person inside the vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Team was called out to reconstruct the crash.  It remains under investigation.
