Sheriff: 2 Madison teens killed in semi vs. motorcycle head-on crash
Motorcycle driver, passenger died at scene
VILLAGE OF ARLINGTON, Wis. — The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said two Madison teenagers were killed when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit head-on by a semitrailer Tuesday.
The crash occurred about 5 p.m. on U.S. Highway 51 at State Highway 22, approximately five miles south of the Village of Arlington in southern Columbia County.
Both people on the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene. Columbia County authorities identified the two victims as teenage boys from Madison. Jeremy Brewster, 17, was driving and Trevor Jones, 18, was the passenger, according to authorities.
Sheriff’s officials said the preliminary investigation confirms that a tractor-trailer was traveling south on U.S. Highway 51 when it crossed over the center line and struck a motorcycle that was traveling north on U.S. Highway 51.
The semitrailer driver was wearing his seat belt and wasn’t injured in the crash, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office.
