MADISON, Wis. — A group of teens surrounded a 12-year-old boy Saturday and proceeded to hit him with sticks in the 2900 block of Traceway Drive, according to an incident report.

Police spotted a group of teens riding bikes on Post Road later that day. When officers tried speaking to the teens, all but one of them dropped their bikes and ran away. The one teen who stayed behind was identified by the victim as one of the teens involved in the incident. The teen was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on tentative charges of battery with use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.

The victim was not seriously injured.
