Several Madison streets will be closed Sunday for the Ironman Triathlon.
The triathlon starts with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Monona. The triathletes then complete a 112-mile bike ride through Madison and the surrounding area, and then a 26.2-mile run through downtown Madison.
According to a release from mayor’s office, more than 75,000 people will be heading to the Madison area this weekend for the triathlon.
Officials said in preparation for the event, notices will be posted at the City-County Building and the Madison Municipal Building that unattended bags will not be allowed starting Friday through the end of the triathlon on Sunday.
A full list of street closures can be found online.
Multiple Metro bus routes will also be detoured during the event.
