Several arrests made in connection to Waunakee burglaries
WAUNAKEE, Wis. — Waunakee police made several arrests in connection with multiple burglaries in Waunakee, officials said.
The age range of those arrested is 13 to 17.
Waunakee police responded to 18 burglary cases in November and multiple reports of thefts from vehicles.
On Nov. 10, Wisconsin Dells Police officers responded to a report of a person passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Police found three juveniles inside the car, which had been reported stolen from the City of Madison. Police searched the vehicle and found two stolen handguns, along with property from Waunakee victims who woke up to find two people in their bedroom. All three juveniles were arrested.
On Nov. 27, 28 and 29 Waunakee Police received multiple burglary complaints, in one case a woman came face-to-face with a male who was in her home. The man fled immediately.
On Nov. 28, Madison Police responded to a burglary in progress, and found that the suspect’s vehicle was a Ford Explorer that had been stolen from Waunakee. The suspect fled with the vehicle. Then on Nov. 29 Maple Bluff Police attempted to stop the stolen Ford Explorer but the vehicle crashed at Baldwin Street and East Washington Avenue in Madison. Three or four occupants were arrested.
On Nov. 30 at around 1:30 a.m. Fitchburg Police contacted Waunakee Police in reference to two juveniles they arrested in a stolen vehicle. The juveniles were in possession of property that had been reported stolen in Waunakee and Shorewood Hills.
Police are continuing investigations.
