Senate Democratic leader competing in Ironman
Sen. Chris Larson has run in more than 20 marathons
MADISON, Wis. — The Democratic leader in the Wisconsin state Senate wants to be an Ironman.
Sen. Chris Larson, of Milwaukee, is competing in Sunday’s Ironman Wisconsin triathlon. Competitors first swim for 2.4 miles, then bike for 112 miles and cap it off with a full 26.2-mile marathon that ends at the state Capitol, where Larson works.
The 32-year-old Larson has run in more than 20 marathons and even competed in the Ironman once before in 2011. However, that year he did not finish the grueling race.
On Thursday, Larson posted on his Facebook page that his goals for the race this year, in order, are not to die, to finish, and if possible to finish with a good time of around 11 hours.
