Semi-truck pulls down power lines in Monroe, knocking out power
MONROE, Wis. — Monroe police say a semi-truck that hooked power lines in a residential neighborhood has pulled down several utility poles and knocked out power.
Police were called to the area of 7th and 8th Streets and 21st and 22nd Avenues on Monroe’s east side just after 11 a.m. Thursday.
No injuries or fires have been reported at this time, but several people remain without power while crews are on the scene.
Alliant Energy is working to repair the downed lines and utility poles, and police say about 30 homes are without power. Alliant Energy estimates it may take until 6 p.m. to restore power to the neighborhood.
Police are still investigating how the semi got tied up in the power lines. People are asked to avoid the area due the number of lines and poles down.
