Semi strikes deer, overturns, leaving driver injured
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — A semitruck struck a deer and overturned, leaving the driver injured in Platteville Wednesday, according to officials.
A Prairie Farms Dairy semi tractor-trailer from Dubuque, Iowa, was traveling north on STH 151 near Southwest Road and struck a deer, according to a report from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The semi left the south side of the roadway, struck a large road sign and overturned, officials said.
The driver, 55-year-old Randall Hansen of Asbury, Iowa, was transported to Southwest Health Center for possible injuries. The semi had heavy damage and was removed from the scene by Guys Towing Service. One lane of STH 151 was shut down for several hours, according to the report.
The Platteville Fire Department and Grant County Highway Department assisted at the scene, officials said.
