Second chance for golden retriever
Madison community pitches in to pay for surgery
MADISON, Wis. — A golden retriever gets a second chance thanks to the generosity of the Madison community.
Four-year-old Lily was surrendered to Dane County Humane Society last year. She had a painful ear infection so severe; doctors determined the ear canal needed to be removed.
The humane society raised $600 through the “Help Me Heal” fund for Lily to have the surgery and Madison veterinary specialists performed the operation Thursday at half the normal cost.
“Make them comfortable and give them the chance of working through whatever issues they may have so that they can find their forever home” Lily’s foster mom, Lynn Quamme said. She believes foster homes provide the loving environment injured animals need to heal.
