Four days later, Bruce’s Legacy Search and Recovery found his body.

Lt. Keith Klafke with the Portage Police Department said he is glad to give the family some closure after the long search.

“The family is in our thoughts and our prayers, our condolences to the loss of their loved one, I can’t imagine how they’re feeling,” Kafke said. “I’m sad that this is the incident we are dealing with but I’m glad we were able to provide some initial closure.”

Wolffarth’s body is being examined at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

“This was an incredibly tough search the lake is very deep in the middle but between the shore line and the deep channel there is a very thick weed bed which was very difficult to scan with sonar and very difficult for the divers to move through,” Klafke said.
