Sand bags available in Sauk Co. ahead of potentially severe storms

Sandbags

BARABOO, Wis. — Sauk County Emergency Management officials are reminding people free sand bags are available ahead of potentially severe storms later tonight that could lead to flash flooding in some areas.

With parts of Sauk County prone to flooding, officials put out a reminder Thursday morning that free sand and bags are available at the Sauk County Highway Department’s West Baraboo garage on Highway 136, across from the Sauk County Humane Society.

People will need to fill the bags themselves. Officials say bags should only be filled halfway, allowing for easier stacking and better bonding between the bags to keep water out.
