Ryan, Badgers ready for new season
Evans, Gasser lead Wisconsin in 2012-13
The Badger Men’s Basketball team will try to repeat its NCAA tournament run of last season — and try to go even deeper.
Bo Ryan is back for his 12th season as head coach and one of his biggest challenges will be to replace All-American point guard Jordan Taylor and Rob Wilson, who came on strong late last season. Both Taylor and Wilson have graduated.
Leading candidates to replace Taylor are junior guard Josh Gasser who was a starter last season and newcomer George Marshall.
Along with Gasser, senior forward Ryan Evans and redshirt senior forward Jared Berggren should lead the Badgers with the help of newcomers like Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball, Sam Dekker.
Senior forward Mike Breusewitz will miss the first couple of weeks as he recovers from a leg injury.
The Badgers were 26-10 last season and made it to the Sweet 16 before losing to Syracuse, 64-63.
Wisconsin opens its season with an exhibition game against UW-Oshkosh on November 7th with the regular season opener November 11th at the Kohl Center against Southeastern Louisiana.
The Badgers will hold their annual Red and White Scrimmage November 4th at 5 pm. The scrimmage is free to the public.
