CROSS PLAINS/TOWN OF BERRY-Ruth Meister, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Heartland Country Village in Black Earth. She was born on April 13, 1921, in Duluth, MN., the daughter of Einar and Ebba (Engstrom ) Nygren. Ruth was united in marriage to the love of her life, Warren Meister on November 4, 1948 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran in Prairie du Sac. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Berry. Ruth and Warren lived on the family farm from 1948 until 1991 when they moved to Cross Plains. Ruth was an active volunteer with St. Vincent in Sauk City and the North West Dane County Senior Outreach Center.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Elaine) Meister of Black Earth, Karen (David) Bigelow of Watertown; two grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Borchardt, Joshua Bigelow; a great-granddaughter, Colleen Borchardt; three sisters-in-law, Jean (Richard) Remy, Lorene Meister, Norma (Mont) Willis and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Warren Meister, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Doug Nygren; a sister Eileen (Jerry) Momsen and a brother-in-law, Alex Meister.
Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH- BERRY, 5435 Scherbel Road, Black Earth at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 13, 2012, with the Reverend Beth Schultz Byrnes presiding. Burial will be in Valley Home Cemetery, Cross Plains. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
