MADISON-Ruth Jeanne Faulkner, age 83, after a long struggle with Alzheimer ‘s disease, found peace on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in Madison. She was born in Bear Creek, to Herman and Beatrice (Darling) Schoelkopf on July 22, 1929. After graduation, she moved to Madison where she worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles.

She met Richard Faulkner and they were united in marriage in 1948. They lived in Madison for the first years of their marriage and later moved to the Cambridge/Deerfield area where they farmed until his death in 1976. She returned to Madison and worked for St. Mary’s Hospital and Anchor Bank. Ruth enjoyed crocheting with a specialty in afghans for babies. She worked in her garden valiantly protecting her plants from rabbits. Ruth was a devout member of the St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church where she taught catechism.

Ruth is survived by her children, Peg (Milt) Sprecher of Middleton, Pat (Bill) Imhoff of Monona, Pete (Ruthie) Faulkner of Cambridge, Marie (Jim) Iverson of Winnsboro, Texas, and Bill (Donna) Faulkner of Sun Prairie; daughter-in-law, Angelea Faulkner of Edgerton; sisters, Carol (Jerry) Marcks of Shawano and Margie Braun of Clintonville; grandchildren, Heidi Williamson, Theresa Champeau, Sheri Derks, Stefanie Heden, Elizabeth Stolte, Sarah and Dan Sprecher, Amanda Bratland, Roger and Tracie Kluever, Mike and Joe Imhoff, Judy Lund, Marcia Faulkner, Robert and Richard Iverson, and Thomas and Matthew Faulkner; and 15 (almost 16) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Glen Schoelkopf; two sons, Thomas and Henry; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Don Kluever; infant granddaughter, Jessica Kluever; and great-grandchildren, Lucy and Isaiah Derks.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be celebrated at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. The family would like to thank Sebring Assisted Care Residence and Agrace HospiceCare for their loving care and support.
