Ruth Elsie Budahn
JANESVILLE/FOOTVILLE—Ruth Elsie Budahn, a sweet 95-year-old, joined her husband and son in heaven. She died peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. She was born in Milwaukee on November 7, 1917, the daughter of Anton C. and Louise (Treichel) Sprang. She married Amos Adelbert Budahn on June 10, 1939, in Milwaukee and he preceded her in death on February 4, 1995. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls and was involved in their Quilters group.
Ruth was a loving mother to her three children, and 30 foster children who arrived from birth until they were adopted. Her special gift from God was her family, who meant everything to her. She was a creative person who didn’t consider herself an artist. However, everyone who sees what she created calls her an artist, and her family treasures her nature-inspired creations. She was always gathering pieces of nature to use in her creations. Wherever she lived, she surrounded herself with things she collected and created. She enjoyed her home in Menomonee Falls and cottage in Lake Tomahawk, both of which she helped build. She was an avid supporter of the Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team. She was blessed to have seen the first ever World Water Ski Tournament, watching every team compete in September.
She is survived by her daughters; Karen (Rob) Lisser of Janesville and Janice (Michael) Foley of Chicago, IL; her grandson Steve; step granddaughters Tammy and Michelle and their six children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David; and brothers, Raymond and Harold Sprang.
Ruth and her family were very appreciative of the special care and kindness shown to her by the staff of St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, with Rev. James Melvin of Janesville presiding. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee; a graveside service will be performed by Rev. Warren Granke of Menomonee Falls.
