Ruth Elizabeth Bawden

Ruth Elizabeth Bawden was born on the Price Homestead near Hyde, Wisconsin, in the Ridgeway Township, Iowa County, on August 26, 1913. She went to her heavenly home on October 27, 2017.

Ruth was the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Ward) Price. She graduated from Barneveld High School in 1931, and completed the Iowa County Teacher’s Training Course in 1932. She taught in rural Iowa County Schools for five years. She also attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for a semester, and taught Daily Vacation Bible Schools in several area churches in Wisconsin during the summer. Later on, for eight years she worked at the old Sauk Prairie Hospital as a nurse’s assistant.

On August 26, 1937, Ruth married Raymond C. Bawden at the Hyde Church. While Raymond attended Oberlin Seminary, they served a church in Claridon, Ohio, and after seminary, various churches in Wisconsin.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary, son, Paul (Ferra); one sister Mary Fuchs; three grandchildren, Rachel Bawden, Gretchen (Kent) Sundberg, and Emily (Mark) Green; four great grandchildren, Meredith, Ethan, and Tabitha Sundberg, and Elanor Green. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (1966), her brother, Ward Price (1989), and her sister, Esther Bawden, in 2009.

Ruth was a devoted mother and homemaker. She loved reading the Bible and taking time to pray for her immediate and extended family. She leaves a rich legacy of Christian faith to her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on November, 3, 2017 at Graceway Church, 65, 13th St., Prairie du Sac. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Hyde Cemetery, Ridgeway Township.

Ruth’s family is deeply appreciative of the wonderful and loving care Ruth received at Maplewood of Sauk-Prairie, WI for the past three and a half years. Memorials may be given to Grace Way Church, Prairie du Sac, WI or to Inspiration Ministries (formerly, The Christian League For the Handicapped) of Walworth, WI
