Ruth A Williamson
CROSS PLAINS-Ruth A. Williamson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare with her loving family by her side.
Ruth was born on August 27, 1927 to Herman and Ida (Gabi) Lehman on their farm in rural Verona. She lived her childhood in rural Verona and upon graduation from Verona High School moved with her family to Madison.
While working for the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles she met Russell Williamson. They were married in 1947 and lived and farmed near Pine Bluff until 1972. In 1970 she returned to work for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, retiring in 1992. She and Russell enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, taking walks, and gathering with friends for many years. After he passed away in 2001, she enjoyed having coffee with her friends most mornings, walking when she was able and spending time with her family.
One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren and, most especially, with her four beautiful great grandchildren. Ruth had a love of nature and enjoyed watching birds from her windows and watching the clouds pass by in the sky.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Michael) O’Neil of Wexford, PA; son, Robert (Audrey) Williamson of Fitchburg, granddaughters Hayley (Charles) Tessier and Heather (Ryan) Jung, and great grandchildren Allison and AJ Tessier and Graham and Vivienne Jung; her sister Lillian Ballmer and sister-in-law Susan Lehman, many loving nieces and nephews, and many dear and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her father and mother-in law, John and Daisy Williamson, her brothers Herman, Ernest, and Melvin (infant) Lehman, her sisters Clara Hageman, Martha Theesfeld, Olga Lund, Hilda Mennes and Helen Warner, her sisters-in-law Lorna Lehman, Jennie Williamson and Hazel Williamson, her brothers-in law Henry Hageman, Martin Theesfeld, John Lund, James Mennes, Hubert Warner and Kenneth Ballmer.
Funeral services will be held at WEST MIDDLETON LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3763 Pioneer Road (corner of Mineral Point and Pioneer Roads), Verona at 11 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2014 with the Reverend Ted Lindquist presiding. Burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery, Middleton. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 5 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 and also on Thursday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the services.
