Russell W. Shaub
MIDDLETON-Russell W. Shaub, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. He was born on September 29, 1948 in Madison, the son of John and Jean (McCutchin) Shaub. Russ was united in marriage to Jane Jacobson on June 25, 1977 in Hope Lutheran Church in the town of Cottage Grove.
A graduate of Middleton High School, Russ continued his education earning a Bachelor’s degree from the UW-Madison and his master’s in Special Education from UW –Whitewater. He taught in Marshall with the Dane County Special Education Program and was the first special education teacher in the Middleton Cross Plains School District where he retired in 2004. He coached softball for 26 years earning a State Championship and was inducted in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He played an active role in Middleton High School sport activities. Russ was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Badgers, Brewers and the Packers. Russ truly treasured most the time spent with his family and adoring grandchildren.
Russ is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jane; a daughter, Jennifer Cizek; two sons, John (Jennifer) Shaub and David (Virginia) Shaub; seven grandchildren, Allison, Brady, Jordan, Julia, Anna, Peyton and Brett; two sisters, Julie (Jim) Mabis, Kristi (Phil) Post, a brother, Jim (Pat) Shaub; sisters-in-law, June Shaub, Judy Shaub and a brother-in-law, Gerald Meicher. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wally and Tom, a sister Sharon and a son-in-law, Jeffrey Cizek.
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Memorial services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, WEST CAMPUS, 7291 County Hwy PD, Verona at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 with the Reverend Timothy Nybroten presiding. Family and friends may also call on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
