Rosemary Temple, age 92, of Monona, died on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at home.
She was born on March 24, 1925, in Mineral Point to Joseph and Victoria Filardo. Rosemary graduated from Mineral Point High School and then attended Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Elsworth (Roy) Temple on October 14, 1943.Together they raised four children. He preceded her in death in March of 1996.Rosemary was a strong, caring person. She valued her relationships with people of all ages and continued to make new friends until the end. After business school, Rosemary did payroll for a business in Milwaukee. Once she and Roy settled in Madison she became a meat wrapper and worked at several local grocery stores. Rosemary then took a position at the UW Medical Library and became a library technician. She worked for 14 years as a desk receptionist at UW Housing. While Rosemary enjoyed all her jobs, working at UW Housing was the most rewarding. She treasured the lifelong friendships she made along the way.
Rosemary is survived by her four children, David of Waukesha, Sandra (Robert) Vitense of Sun Prairie, Vicki (David) Burritt of Onalaska, and Thomas (Shari) of Shakopee, Minn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Melissa), Robert (Holly), Kurt (Teesa), Elizabeth, Kristine, Ryan (Leah), and Loren; her great-grandchildren, Pierce, Anton, Zane, Isabel, Cal and Eve; brother, Dominick Filardo; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend and companion for the past 13 years, Jerry Frerker.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.
