Ronnie Ray Knutson
Ronnie Ray Knutson, age 67 of La Farge, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Hillsboro, Wisconsin on October 9, 1947 the son of Virgil and Cecelia (Beaver) Knutson. As a member of the 101st Airborne, Ronnie served during the Viet Nam era, was a decorated service member and a disabled American veteran.
An avid sportsman, Ronnie enjoyed the outdoors, whether the natural beauty of the area he was in, or hunting and fishing. He enjoyed teaching nieces and nephews and grandchildren to hunt and fish. Following his discharge, Ronnie was employed by the railroad. He was a pilot and enjoyed travel. Six years ago, he was fortunate to marry his best friend, Judy King. They loved living in La Farge and the natural beauty of the area. Ronnie loved telling stories and pulling practical jokes. One story that was not a joke was his meeting Phil Harris of Deadliest Catch, and crabbing on the Cornelia Marie as a deckhand.
Survivors include His wife and best friend Judy Knutson of La Farge. His father Virgil Knutson of Viroqua. Sons: Scot Ray (Tara) Knutson of Denmark, WI, Jason Allen Knutson of Tennessee, Robert (Christina) Smith of Concord, OH. Grandchildren; Bret, Savannah, Teagan and Samuel. Four brothers: Gary Knutson, Butch Rolfe, Craig Casey, Brent Casey. His Aunt Amy Beaver of La Farge. Nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the LA FARGE FREE METHODIST CHURCH. Pastor Mark Phillips will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the La Farge VFW Post 9075. Friends may call at the church Tuesday evening from 4:00 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Ronnie’s name be made to VFW Post 9075 of La Farge.
