Roger L. Ott
Roger L. Ott, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thur. Mar. 30, 2017 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in the Troy Township on Sept. 16, 1928 to the late LaVerne and LaVesta (Patrick) Ott. As a young man he enjoyed training horses to work on his family’s farm. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following his service to his country he was united in marriage to Loraine Bohnsack on Nov. 1, 1951; they recently celebrated 65 years together. Roger enjoyed the outdoors, bird and wildlife watching, and especially fishing. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter building many toys, clocks and furniture for family and friends. Roger was known for his quick wit, storytelling, and ability to make people laugh. He and Loraine enjoyed many years volunteering at the Sauk Prairie Historical Society and were members at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Black Hawk.
Roger is survived by his wife, Loraine; 3 children, Ramona Bishton (Victor Ratchman), Loretta (Tom) Jellings, and Paul Ott; 3 grandchildren, Daniel (Alicia) Bishton, Mike Bishton, and Adam Jellings; great grandson, Carter Bishton; a sister, Patsy Hering; sister in-law, Beverly Ott; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Pricilla “Toddy” (Earl) Loether, Esther (Clifford) Kaufman, Russell Ott; and son in-law, Timothy Bishton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wed. Apr.5, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Black Hawk. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 will follow in the church cemetery.
