Rock County police arrest suspect for string of stolen cars

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Rock County Sheriff’s Office arrested one person Tuesday night for a suspected car theft and a hit in run.

Police said on Tuesday they responded to reports of a hit and run at 4:23 pm. The incident was on State Highway 140 in Bradford township.

The suspect car for the hit and run was seen speeding east on US Highway 14. According to officials it was a stolen car from Genoa City.

At 6:30 pm Rock County Deputies responded to a car crash in the town of Newark that involved the previous stolen vehicle.

Police said the driver fled the car crash in another stolen car, which was later recovered in Illinois, crashed into a ditch.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they worked with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office in Illinois to take the lone suspect into custody.

During further investigation officers found the suspect was involved with a series of other crimes.

Those crimes, as well as Tuesday’s events are still under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
