Rock County officials search for dangerous man who was possibly armed at trailer park near Blackhawk Technical College
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Rock County officials are searching for a dangerous man who was possibly armed at a trailer park near Blackhawk Technical College Friday afternoon.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said the original call came in at around 1:30 p.m. Deputies worked with the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation to try and find the man, who is wanted for drug charges.
According to the news release, the man drove southbound on Highway J from Highway O in the town of La Prairie. Officials said he later got out of his vehicle and ran away. DCI agents said they believe the man could be armed with a weapon.
According to the School District of Janesville, the Rock County Sheriff’s Department and Janesville Police Department have told faculty members that the suspect was seen around the Rockvale trailer park at 6219 South Highway 51.
The trailer park as well as Blackhawk Technical College and Rock County Christian School were all closed and on lock down, but the lock down has since been lifted.
Deputies said K-9 units from Winnebago, Illinois, and a drone are being used to look for the man.
The suspect has been described as a man in his mid-30s who is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 275 pounds.
Officials told News 3 Now that they called off the search when it became too dark.
