Rock Co. deputy still hospitalized Friday morning following Thursday afternoon crash

BELOIT, Wis. — A deputy from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office remained in the hospital Friday morning after being involved in a crash while responding to a call of a person with a gunshot wound Thursday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of E L T Townline Road and South Prairie Avenue near Blackhawk Technical College in the town of Turtle. The deputy and two people inside a tow truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office said Friday morning the two people in the tow truck were treated and released Thursday night.

A news release from the sheriff’s office didn’t provide details about the nature of the gunshot wound call, but less than 45 minutes before the crash, the Town of Beloit Police Department responded to a person with a gunshot wound in the 3000 block of South Park Avenue not far from the crash site.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash; further details have not been released.
