Elderly victim identified in ‘complex, violent death’ in Rock Co.
MADISON, Wis. — Authorities in Rock County say they are continuing to investigate a death they described as “complex” and “violent” earlier this week.
Rock County Sheriff’s Office deputies first responded to a home on W. Mineral Point Road in the Town of Center west of Janesville early Monday morning. An elderly woman was found dead in the home’s garage and another person in the home was taken into custody.
On Friday, the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department identified the woman as 97-year-old Kathleen N. Beggs of Janesville.
The sheriff’s office says the person in custody remains in the Rock County Jail on an unrelated charge. The sheriff’s office has not yet identified the person being held in jail. Previously, the sheriff’s office said everyone involved was related.
The sheriff’s office says it will release more information on its investigation into the death sometime next week.
