Robert Ralph Guist, 84, of New Lisbon WI passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021 after a short hospital stay.

Robert was born on July 31, 1937 in Ladysmith, WI to Ralph Guist and Hazel Raymond. Robert was later raised with love by his devoted stepfather Delbert Raymond.

Robert met the love of his life Cecelia and they were united in marriage on September 15, 1959, and went on to have four children – Michael Guist, Darrel Guist, Pamela Winker, and Laura (Terry) Firnstahl.

Robert retired from the City of Mauston Public Works Department after 20 plus years of devoted service. Prior to working for the City of Mauston, Robert worked in construction and in the trades for Kraemer Brothers, Finger Brothers, and Les Crawford. Robert also proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard and worked at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.

Robert was a passionate hunter and trapper. He looked forward to deer season and trapping season every year and loved attending the trapper’s convention whenever possible. Robert was very resourceful and a passionate metal scrapper. He was able to fix anything you placed in front of him and utilized all his available resources to build and create whatever he needed. Most of all, he loved how hunting, trapping, and scrapping brought him closer to his family. Hunting season and the holidays were always spent at his home and he loved being able to provide for his family.

Robert is survived by his wife Cecelia, children Michael Guist, Darrel Guist, Pamela Winker, and Laura (Terry) Firnstahl, his grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) Winker, Peggy Winker (Jay Baker), Erin (Patrick) McGregor, Thomas Pagel, and Melissa Guist and great grandchild Thomas Winker. He is further survived by his sister Wanda Guist and brothers Dick Raymond, Donald(Jeanette)Raymond and Gary Raymond, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parent Ralph and Hazel, and his stepfather Delbert, a sister Patricia, and a nephew Don Raymond.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday September 16th, 2021 at Crandall Funeral Home in Mauston, WI. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at Crandall’s from 11:00am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery on Cemetery Rd in Mauston, WI. A gathering of friends and family will follow the services at Riverside Park in Mauston with food and fellowship. A dish to pass is appreciated but not required.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Fairview Nursing Home for taking such great care of him in the past few months as well as the staff at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, especially the ICU and Hospice nursing staff.
