Robert P. Mergen
Robert “Bob” P. Mergen, 67, of Glen Haven, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, Wisconsin. Father John Meinholz will officiate. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Robert P. Bob was born on August 18, 1949 in Lancaster, Wisconsin, son of Leo and Clara (Hendrichs) Mergen. He was united in marriage to Mary Ronan on February 10, 1968 in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Bob was a lifelong farmer in Glen Haven. He also enjoyed valet driving and driving for Renzenberger, Inc. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glen Haven. He enjoyed riding his Gator, playing cards, traveling, and going to farm sales.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Jim (Sue Rinehart) Mergen of Bloomington; Anne (Tom) Hore of Lancaster; Steve Mergen of Dane, WI; four grandchildren, Eric (Heather Taylor) Mergen, Brittany (Sherri Aspenson) Mergen, Justin (Kate Noble) Hore, and Jena Hore; one great-grandson, Leighton Mergen; two sisters, Martha (Carl) Neis of Bloomington; Janice (Leon) Stern of Mountain Home, AR and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, MaKayla Hore on November 21, 2012, his parents, and brother, Peter.
