Robert L. “Bob” Mason
Robert “Bob” L. Mason, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 1, 2014 in Iowa City, IA while on vacation.
He was born in Waupun, WI on November 12, 1933 to the late Earl and Marie (Lemmenes) Mason. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army and he worked as a tool and die maker for many years at International Harvester in Libertyville, IL. Bob married Robyn Hoege on June 8, 1985 and moved to Sauk City in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, manufacturing ice fishing tip ups and jig poles, traveling in his motorhome, spending time at his cabin in Park Falls, snowmobiling, hunting and deer camp.
Bob is survived by his wife, Robyn; his children, Greg Mason, Debbie (Doug) Smedema, and Margie Mason; two grandchilden, Ryan (Michele) and Miranda Smedema; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Bryce Smedema; two sisters, Margie Mischler and Mary Wood; sister-in-law, Doris Mason; two brothers-in-law, Rusty (Debbie) Hoege, and Randy Hoege; sister-in-law Rhonda (Dan) Ederer; father and mother in-law, Ken and Helen Hoege; he is further survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Logan Smedema; brother Gerald Mason; two brothers-in-law, George Mischler and Jim Wood.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, and also on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Military Rites will be accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694.
