Robert L. “Bob” Krewson
MADISON — Robert L. “Bob” Krewson, age 79, of Verona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Bob was born on July 26, 1933, in Calumet City, Illinois, to Mary Adelaide and Russel Paul Krewson. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 as a control tower operator, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1960 with a degree in business after serving as the president of Wisconsin’s Alpha Chi Rho fraternity chapter. On June 25, 1960, Bob married Grace Born of Milwaukee, who stayed by him his entire life and was with him in his final moments.
Bob was employed by the Bank of Madison, later the M&I Bank, his entire business career, eventually as an assistant vice president charged with establishing pension and retirement plans. His professional and personal life would follow a course of service to his fellow man; Bob was honored to count himself a member of the Optimist Club, president of the Verona Parent-Teachers Association, a member of the Verona Area School Board, a participant in various United Way programs. Also an avid outdoorsman, Bob shared his enthusiasm as a 4-H archery instructor and a fly-tying instructor for Trout Unlimited. In the past year, Bob worked with Project Healing Waters program to help disabled military veterans find peace and perspective through fly fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Grace; his sons, John, of Ann Arbor, MI and Michael of Madison; and his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Erik Hoyer, of Green Bay.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME in Verona. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 S. Main Street, Verona, after a visitation one hour prior to service.
