Robert J. Smith
Robert J. (Bob) Smith passed away Friday January 12, 2018. He was born in Whitewater on March 12, 1935 to James and Gertrude Smith.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne. He is also survived by three sons, Paul (Cristina), Mark (Elizabeth Christians) and Jim (Yvonne), and one daughter, Bobbi (Michael) English. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ema, Greer, Barrett, Nathaniel, Madeleine, Sarah, Claire, Samuel, Alexandra, and Olivia.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard. A longtime resident of Fort Atkinson, Bob owned Jensen and Jones clothing store. In recent years, he was an active volunteer with Fort HealthCare Partners. He served two terms as president.
Bob was a member of St Joseph Parish for 55 years, serving as usher.
He was a lifelong Cubs fan, and was happy to see them win the World Series.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15th from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow at 11. Burial will be at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In celebration of Bob’s life, a luncheon will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
