Robert H Anderson
MADISON-Robert H. Andersen, 99, passed away July 9, 2014 at Oakwood Village in Madison, after a long and fulfilling life.
He and his sister, Marion, were born and raised by their father in a Norwegian neighborhood in Chicago. After high school, he began to work at the United States Steel Supply Division, where he retired 40 years later as Superintendent of Maintenance.
He married his wife Eleanor in 1939. They raised their children and lived in the Chicago area until 1992, when they moved to Madison. He nursed Eleanor through many years of a debilitating illness, until her death in 2007. Since 2009, he has lived at Oakwood Village, in Tabor Oaks. He was always a kind and compassionate man.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Ronald (Chris) of Coos Bay, Oregon, Robert J. (Eileen Hirsch), Madison, and Gary (Dorothy) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Tristin, Tracie, Jessica, Melissa, Elise and Erica, and his great grandchildren Dylon and Eryn.
Visitation will be at the Belmont Funeral Home, 7120 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, at 11:00 a.m., July 14, with services at 11:30. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery will follow.
His family wishes to express their thanks to all the residents and staff at Oakwood Village whom Dad has shared his life with these past 5 years.
