Robbery victim ‘wanted to party,’ assaulted instead

Madison police are looking for a man who assaulted a 29-year-old, and the woman who helped set up the attack under the guise of attending a party.

The victim said he was walking in downtown Madison around 3 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by a woman near the corner of W. Johnson Street and N. Carroll Street.

The woman asked the Madison man if he “wanted to party.” He said “yes,” then followed her into a residence in the 100 block of W. Johnson Street, police said.

There was not a party and, instead, a male suspect demanded the victim’s money, threw him to the floor and then punched and kicked him.

During the assault, the woman reached into the victim’s pocket and stole his wallet, investigators said.

The two suspects then left the home, and the victim called police.
