Rio’s McCormick headed back to Olympics

The Winter Olympics in Sochi begin next week and Rio’s Debbie McCormick will be competing for the fourth time in women’s curling.

McCormick is the vice skip on the United States team along with former Madison resident Ericka Brown (skip), Ann Swisshelm (lead), Jessica Schultz (second).

McCormick has been on seven US national championship curling teams, but has yet to medal in the Olympics.

Her best finish was on the 2002 team in Salt Lake City which finished fourth.

“I haven’t won a medal yet, and we’re working very hard to do everything we can to get on the podium,” McCormick said.

“My entire team, we’ve all curled at the Olympics at some point and I think just the experience of being at the Olympics before and knowing what to expect going into the Games is going to help us tremendously.”
