Rick “Rico” Kast
MIDDLETON-Rick “Rico” Kast, age 47, of Middleton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at his home.
He was born on May 31, 1969, in Madison, the son of Karen and Phil Kast. Rick graduated from La Follette High School in 1987. He joined the U.S. Marines and upon his return, attended MATC. He married Robin Mummert on May 10, 2008. Together they enjoyed traveling, going out to eat with friends, and a good glass of wine.
Rick was a Project Manager for William Ryan Homes and Cornett Homes, where he was an invaluable team member and very well-liked by his clients. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and sports, especially the Packers and Badgers. Rick also enjoyed his Harley and riding with friends. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Rick took pride in making other people happy. He made friends easily and had numerous friends to show for it. Rick was loved by all.
Rick is survived by his wife, Robin; parents; Karen and Phil; sister, Teri (Brian) Miller; parents-in-law, Mike and Barb Esch; brothers-in-law, Greg (Kerri) Mummert and Todd Mummert; nieces and nephews, Hannah and Layne Miller, Brooke Mummert and Troy Small; and countless other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Rob; and best friend, “Horndog”.
A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. Burial will be at SUNSET MEMORY GARDENS, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. Immediately following the graveside service, please join the family for a White Russian at JORDAN’S BIG 10 PUB, 1330 Regent St, Madison, in celebration of Rick.
