Richard Walsh

Richard Walsh, age 88, of Footville, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison, WI. He was born in the house he lived in his entire life in Footville, on Nov. 20, 1923, the son of Ambrose and Genevieve (Meehan) Walsh.

He graduated from Janesville High School. Dick owned and operated Walsh’s Service Station in Footville where he was a full service mechanic. After his retirement he worked for A&H Trucking Company as a mechanic, and served on the Village Board for 38 years. He loved spending time on his boat, at his cottage on the Rock River and his many pets. He was a member of Luther Valley Historical Society and a lifelong member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Footville.

Dick is survived by his sister, Catherine Kitelinger; 6 nieces: Susan (Phil) Garthwaite, Linda Kettle and Patti Jo (Terry) Neal all of Footville, Carla (Michael) Edgar of Janesville, Colleen (Dan) Cox of Footville and Mary Linne (Raymond) Kiser of Newark; 19 great nieces and nephews: Michele (Rick) Tomfohrde, Brian Garthwaite, Scott (Melanie Messer) Garthwaite, David (Amy) Kettle, Sarah Schaetten, Lukas and Justin Kettle, Stacy Neal, Adam Neal, Cassie (Nick) Lambert, Jamison Kudrna, Nicole (Ed) Hartman, Kayla Edgar, Megan, Alex, Ryan and Emily Cox, Molly Rae and Brody Kiser; 13 great great nieces and nephews: Samantha and Jacob Tomfohrde, Jordan, Mark and Max Garthwaite, Danielle and Michael Kettle, Alison and Matthew Schaetten, Ryan and Kendall Hartman and Tyler and Blayke Lambert; other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Linton Kitelinger; and nephew, Michael Kitelinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Footville with Fr. Kevin Dooley presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Janesville.
