Richard Unbehaun

Richard Unbehaun, 66, of Richland Center died Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Upland Hills Healthcare in Dodgeville.

He was born on July 9, 1955, in Richland Center the son of Robert G. and Naomi B. (Lewis) Unbehaun. Dick graduated from Richland Center High School in 1973. He wrestled in high school and was inducted in the Richland Center High School Wrestling Hall of Fame 2017. On July 17, 1976, Dick was united in marriage to Suzanne Welte at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dick enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved all the time he was able to spend on the water, especially on the Mississippi River which was his happy place. He enjoyed sharing his passion with his family and friends. Dick was a problem solver with a creative imagination and a can-do attitude. He enjoyed being Santa at the nursing homes at Christmas time. He enjoyed learning about history and bird watching. Dick cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandsons.

Dick is survived by his wife Suzanne;3 children: Erin (Stacy) Unbehaun of Richland Center, Rachelle (Michal) Neckar of Madison,Holly (Jonathon) Wolfe of Duluth, MN;4 Grandchildren: Trevor, Colton, Connor, Paul; Parents: Robert and Naomi Unbehaun of Florida; Brother: Rob Unbehaun of California; Half-sister: Rhonda Ladd of Arkansas; Father and mother-in-law: Alan and June Welte of Richland Center, Brothers and sisters-in-law: Chuck (Janie) Welte of Washington, Duane (Shirley) Welte of Iowa, Donna (Mike) Gethings of Sextonville, David (Paula) Welte of Richland Center, Nancy (Joe) Coffman of North Carolina; Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his infant brother Thomas and his grandparents Harley and Nina Unbehaun and Ray and Elsie Lewis.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at the St. Kilian’s Catholic Cemetery in Bear Valley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary to be prayed at 3:45 PM. Visitation will also be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass at 11:00 AM.

The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
