Richard James Poole
Richard James Poole, age 58 of Waukon, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 17, 2012. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 28, 1953, the son of Bedell (Hendricks) and Fame Poole, Sr. Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as an aviation mechanic. He was one of three qualified persons to work on Air Force One. Richard was united in marriage with Carol Diane Frayser in Newbern, North Carolina on February 18, 1974. Richard worked as a machinist by trade. He was a ‘jack of all trades’ who worked on his kids’ cars when needed. He was a landscaper for a period of time, and was also an ordained Lutheran Minister. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and being with his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life.
Survivors include: His wife Diane Poole of Waukon, Iowa. His children: Christie LaFitte,, Angel Poole (Quai McNeal), Trisha Lindley, Gina (Mark) Price all of Waukon. His grandchildren: Justin Grant, Saydee Poole, Brenden Poole, Luke Price, Tyler Price, Joren Lindley, Kayla LaFitte, Dylan Frihart, Johnathon Price. His mother Bedell Mezera of Prairie du Chien. His siblings: Judy Szuta, Fame Poole, Jr., Robert Poole, Rebecca (Bill) Hicks, Goldie (Don) Miatech. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his father, by his grandson Justin Grant, and his niece Sara Hicks.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the GODAGER PRATT FUNERAL HOME, 412 North Iowa Street, Muscoda, Wisconsin, 53573. Burial will be in the Basswood Cemetery where military rites will be provided. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at noon until service time at 2:00 PM.
