Richard J. Schenck
WINDSOR–Richard J. Schenck, age 89, of Windsor passed away at his residence on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, with his family by his side.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1925, in Chicago, the son of Roy and Emily (Perrot) Schenck. He married Joan Cook on June 17, 1951 at the Schenck family farm in Evansville. Richard attended the Delavan State School for the Deaf where he played football and basketball. He worked for Baker’s Mfg. for 40 years. Richard was a talented stained glass artist for nearly 30 years. He was a member of Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church, Madison Association of the Deaf and Wisconsin Association of the Deaf. He was also a member of the Happy 55 Club, Coffee Chat Club and Deaf Men’s Breakfast Club.
Richard was a man of very strong faith and family values.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Erline (Charles) Trapino of Windsor and Dale (Julie) Schenck of Springfield, Ore.; three granddaughters, Marci Clark, Melissa (Todd) Meinholz-Trapino and Jessica (Paul) Schroeder-Trapino; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Bert (Shirley) Schenck; son-in-law, Ed Misa; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Misa; one sister; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOR DEAF LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3110 Dairy Dr., Madison, at noon, on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, with the Rev. John Reinke presiding. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
