Richard J. “Rich” Bollig
DeForest- Richard John Bollig, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital of complications following heart surgery. He died surrounded with the love of his family by his side. Rich was born on November 2, 1940 at St. Mary’s Hospital to John and Johanna (Zeier) Bollig.
He was a proud farmer all of his life, especially of his crops and cattle. He enjoyed his pheasants, quail and other wildlife that made their home on his farm. His nieces and nephews all learned a strong work ethic from Uncle Rich, along with his guidance and care (they had many laughs on him.) He was an avid sports fan, following football, basketball and baseball games on T.V. A testament to this was his two televisions side by side as not to miss a play.
He is survived by his sisters: Carol (LaVerne) Statz, Jan Pomeranke, Dorothy (Ron) Lange, Betty (Don) Pomeranke and Mary (John) Tveit; brother, Edward Bollig; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Darrell Pomeranke
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest with Father Robert Butz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the St. Olaf Catholic Church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
