Richard “Dick” F. Jentz, 83, of Platteville died on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, at a later date. Chapel Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Richard was born on November 23, 1928 in Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of Albert and Marie (Richards) Jentz. He was united in marriage to Lois Mester on July 31, 1954 at the Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont, Wisconsin. Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, 1951 – 1953. Dick was a truck driver where he drove truck for Lonsberg Trucking/ Rural Excavating, Platteville. He drove truck for Consumer’s Co-op and later was manager. He also drove truck for Alliance Trucking out of Port Washington, WI. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville, American Legion Post #42. Dick was a volunteer fireman for the city of Platteville. He enjoyed fishing in Bagley, Wisconsin for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Platteville; three children, Susan (Tim) Lange of Milton, WI; Mary (Bruce) Place of Platteville; Jim (Michelle) Jentz of Benton, WI; nine grandchildren, Grant and David Lange, Julie, Michael and Amy Place, Riley Jentz, Tyler, Amber and Chelsey Bricker; sisters, Dorothy (Gordon) Budde of Sun Prairie, WI; niece, Jan (Tom) Anderson of Normal, IL; nephew, Tom (Karen) Budde of Grafton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Bob Budde.
