Richard “Dick” Oren Cushman
Mt. Horeb – Richard “Dick” Oren Cushman, age 79 of Mt. Horeb, passed away on November 16 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
He was born on August 2, 1938 in Mineral Point, the son of the late Robert and Izro (Pickett) Cushman.
Dick grew up in the Mineral Point area where he met his loving wife of 58 years Sharon Conwell. Dick loved to travel with his wife in their 5th wheel to Texas to escape the long, cold Wisconsin winters. He was also a huge NASCAR and country music fan. His greatest companions, other than Sharon, were his yorkies. Lea will miss him dearly.
Before moving to Kenosha in 1975 and to Kokomo, Indiana in 1993 where Dick was employed by Chrysler (American Motors), he worked at John Deere. Dick and Sharon also were the proprietors of the Wayside Inn and Sharon’s Cafe’ in Dodgeville.
Dick also served in the Air Force during 1955 thru 1958.
Dick is survived by his wife Sharon and their 3 children Debra (Ronnie) Christianson, Richard (Lori) Cushman, and Scott (Voula Minhaus) Cushman; his 6 grandchildren Ryan (Chelsey) Christianson, Kelly Christianson, Chad (Jenny Rigdon) Christianson, Daniel (Dawn) Christianson, Blake (Lida) Cushman and Kyle Cushman; his great-grandchildren Breanna and Jacob Christianson and Caleb Nelson; his brother Randall (Joni) Cushman; his sisters-in-law Connie (Ray) Mohlman and Diane Cushman; his brother-in-law Larry Conwell; many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Cushman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
