Richard Charles Mazzoni
Richard C. Mazzoni, age 69 of rural New Lisbon, Wisconsin died Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Richard passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a sixteen month battle with cancer.
The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church near Castle Rock Lake with Father George Nelson Graham celebrating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Additional services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7211 West Talcott Avenue, Chicago, IL 60631.
Richard was born December 10, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edward and Josephine (Ingolia) Mazzoni. He married Joyce Zelazo on May 30, 1964 in Chicago. Richard was an avid fisherman, master gardener, and craftsman who also loved to golf, cook gourmet meals and travel, having visited many of the US Parks when his children were young and visiting Italy, France, Norway, South Korea, Belize, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
During his years as a product safety engineer, Richard served as president of PCPCI from 1990-92 and chairperson of NEMA since 1997. After retiring he continued his work in the safety field as a private consultant in the US and Europe.
Richard was an active member of the Lady of our Lake parish where he served as an usher, was on the parish council, was chairman of the Summer Festival for years and where he and Joyce were pre-Cana counselors. He also served as supervisor for the Germantown Township and donated his time at the Mauston Food Pantry.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce; his four children, Lisa (Tony Palermo) Mazzoni of San Francisco, CA, Christopher (Kathy) Mazzoni of Algonquin, IL, Wendy (Judi Cheary) Mazzoni of San Francisco, CA and Aimee (Bill) DeProspero of Chicago, IL; sister, Elvira Mazzoni of Northbrook, IL; mother, Josephine Mazzoni of New Lisbon and his five grandchildren; Jakob, Zackary, Joshua, Grace and Dante and his extended family Penny and Rachael Williams and Kristina Hlavac. He was preceded in death by his father.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the numerous individuals who kept Richard in their thoughts and prayers during this time.
