Richard C. “Dick” Harmes
Richard C. “Dick” Harmes age 84 died on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Larson House. He was born on November 8, 1932 in Fall River to James and Eleanor “Nellie” (Jenkins) Harmes. He was a 1951 graduate Fall River High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955 and the reserves until 1959. Dick was married to Fern Ward on September 12, 1953 in Fall River. He worked various jobs including Ehler’s gas station, newspaper delivery and driving for Porth Chevrolet. He was a home delivery milkman for Bancroft Dairy and later retired as a supervisor at the Madison plant. Dick enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved fishing and hunting in Canada and journeyed to Africa for a big-game hunting safari.
Survivors include three daughters Debra Kurth of West Virginia, Sandra Duran of Columbus and Teresa (Gerald) Tyson of Marshall; two sons Patrick (Sheila) of Beaver Dam and Craig (Nina) of DeForest; fourteen grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Carol Harding of Nebraska, formerly Portage; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1999; son, Rick in 2005; two brothers, Douglas and Robert. A private family graveside will be in the Fall River Cemetery, Fall River.
