Richard C. Anhalt
JANESVILLE—- Richard C. Anhalt, age 72, of Janesville, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. He was born in Stephenson, MI, on Nov. 1, 1939, the son of William and Belle (Pearson) Anhalt.
He served in the US Navy for 6 years in Cartagena, Spain. Richard married Sandra Gerber on Sept. 11, 1982, in Janesville. He had been employed by Ray-O-Vac Corporation in Madison for many years. He was a member and past president of the Spanish Club in Milwaukee, Klassic Car Club of Madison. He enjoyed old cars, house remodeling, socializing, dancing and art. Richard also was a longtime volunteer at the Holiday Folk Fair in Milwaukee.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; 2 children, William (Jill) Anhalt of Hales Corners and Diana Berray of Stuart, FL; 4 step children: Ellen (Alan) Baldwin of Mt. Horeb, Kim Kortes of Elmhurst, IL, Jeffrey Yaeger of Wind Lake, WI, and Bob Yaeger of Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Susan (Jon) Thetard of Bloomington, IL; other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phil Anhalt.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Janesville. Entombment will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will take place on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville.
