Richard Albert Meier
MADISON-Richard Albert Meier, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Attic Angel.
Dick has gone to be with His Savior, Jesus Christ. He is absent from his body, but present with His Lord. He was born in Madison on March 8, 1928, to Herman and Gertrude (Muhlmeier) Meier.
Dick attended St. John’s Military Academy and graduated from West High School. He studied at Mission House College (which his great-grandfather helped to establish) and then later on at General Motors Institute. Dick went into business with his father and brothers at Meier Truck Sales and Badger Bus companies. He loved his family and lived a lifestyle of generosity and deeds of kindness. Dick assisted many people with different needs because he wanted to show ALL others the love of Jesus Christ. He was very faithful in serving his church, Grace Bible Church, where he was a board member for 60 years. Dick was a very active outdoorsman loving hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Ken (Michelle), Linda, Tim (Debbe) and Jim (Sally); 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and his sister, Ruth Schoenwetter. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patti Rock; and brothers, Bob and Cal.
A memorial service will be held at GRACE BIBLE CHURCH, 1309 Painted Post Drive, Madison, at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to Grace Ministries International, PO Box 9405, Grand Rapids, Mich, 49509, for Tim and Debbe Meier, missionaries in Zambia, Africa.
Many thanks for the kind people who have loved and cared for Dick – his family, friends and those who have helped with his medical care.
