Residents warned of garage, vehicle break-ins
Thieves targeting unlocked doors
WESTPORT TOWNSHIP, Wis. — Dane County sheriff’s officials are warning residents in Westport Township about a rash of garage and vehicle break-ins.
Sheriff’s officials report 10 homeowners were victimized in the past two weeks.
Thieves are taking cash and small electronics, but investigators said the thieves are getting more brazen by entering garages attached to homes.
The victimized homes are along Westport Road and Blue Bill Park Drive, and in all cases the homes have been unlocked.
Investigators said they are also trying to determine if the burning of a stolen vehicle in a field off Enchanted Valley Road in Berry Township Saturday is related to the break-ins.
