Residence with 5 children inside struck by gunfire Wednesday night

MADISON, Wis. — Police are looking for information after shell casings were found outside a residence with children inside on the west side Wednesday night.

Officers say they received a report of shots fired at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Greenway View, south of the Beltline.

The victim told police someone they knew pointed a handgun and them earlier in the evening. Roughly a half hour later, the victim’s house was struck by bullets.

Police said they found shell casings outside of the house.

No injuries were reported, but five children aged 5 to 15-years-old  were inside during the incident.

Madison police are asking for information on finding a suspect for the weapons violation. Tips can be reported to Madison Crime Stoppers.
