Residence, vehicle hit by overnight gunfire in Janesville; no injuries reported
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Janesville police are investigating after a home and vehicle were struck by gunfire overnight.
Officers were initially called to the 200 block o South Jackson Street around 3 a.m. for reports of shots fired, according to an incident report.
While searching the area, police found an unspecified number of shell casings. One area resident reported their residence was hit by bullets, and officers also found an unoccupied car that was also hit.
No one in the area reported any injuries, and after checking with local hospitals, police confirmed no one had sought treatment for any gun-related injuries.
Police later executed a search warrant at “an associated apartment” located in the area where officers reportedly found additional evidence from the shooting. Authorities did not specify what evidence they found during the search.
Officials with the Janesville Police Department said there is no active threat to the public. The incident is still under investigation.
