One note on the #Packers GM search: They looked outside, including seeking an interview with #Ravens exec Eric DeCosta, who turned down an interview last night. Gutekunst ascends up the latter, while Russ Ball continues in his current role.

The 44-year old has been the Director of Player Personnel since March 2016, but he has been with the team for 19 season in the player personnel department. He spent his first 13 seasons as a college scout. He also spent time in the scouting departments with the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs.

Gutekunst played football at UW-La Crosse for two years, then became an assistant coach for the team after a shoulder injury cut his college career short.
